The Problem This Course Solves

The sports supplement industry is worth billions. It is also saturated with misleading claims, poorly designed research, and products marketed on confidence rather than evidence. Even experienced trainers regularly make supplement recommendations based on what sold well in the gym, what a sponsored athlete posted, or what a brand’s in-house study appeared to show.

 

The result is wasted money at best — and real harm at worst. Athletes over-supplementing fat-soluble vitamins they don’t need. Competitors unknowingly using compounds that trigger a failed doping test. Clients spending hundreds of pounds on products for which the evidence base is, if examined carefully, almost non-existent.

The 7-Step Evaluation Method

  1. Identify a genuine gap or goal —  not a trend, not a label, not a sponsored post.
  2. Understand the mechanism —  how does this compound actually claim to work at a biological level?
  3. Evaluate the evidence —  who studied it, on whom, how rigorously, and who paid for the study?
  4. Check the safety profile —  what are the real side effects, upper limits, interactions, and anti-doping implications?
  5. Match it to the individual —  age, sex, training level, sport, phase, and dietary context.
  6. Build the plan —  dose, timing, form, cycling protocol, and monitoring approach.
  7. Measure and adjust —  supplements are variables, not constants. What gets tracked gets improved.

How to Use This Course

  • Build evidence-based supplement stacks for strength athletes, anaerobic sports, and endurance athletes — at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
  • Read a supplement label critically: spot underdosed ingredients, proprietary blends used to hide dosages, and quality markers that distinguish a legitimate product.
  • Periodise a supplement programme across training phases and the year.

One Final Thought Before You Begin

The supplement industry will keep changing. New compounds will appear. Old ones will be repackaged. Studies will be funded, published, and occasionally retracted. Labels will continue to promise more than the evidence supports.

 

What will not change is the quality of your questions: What is the mechanism? What does the evidence actually show? Who funded the research, and on whom? What does this cost in real terms — money, health risk, and anti-doping standing? And does any of it matter for the specific person in front of me right now?
